Femme Frequencies is an empowering initiative for female Techno DJs in East Africa. They host bi-monthly events in Uganda and Kenya, with a focus on underground and techno music.

Femme Frequencies Launch Event

As the designer for Femme Frequencies’ launch event, I crafted visuals that embodied the collective's vibrant and bold spirit. I designed a static social media flyer and an eye-catching promo video where each DJ's introduction was styled like a classic "fight game" character selection. I used grid-style backgrounds, to follow the brand style guide and bring out the techno vibe, and added synchronized animated symbols and text with the music, giving it a pulsing, immersive feel. I used the video editing tool CapCUp to create the video.

1 DJ was promoted daily for content and to create anticipation for the event, using esthetic photographs taken before the event, shot by myself and photographer Jordan Beeks.

Additionally, I created and curated the collective’s Instagram page to set the tone for Femme Frequencies online. This included planning image styles and layouts to evoke a cohesive, empowering aesthetic that invites people to connect with our mission.

Femme Frequencies, co-founded by Anitraxx and myself, is a collective that champions female techno DJs and producers in East Africa. We aim to amplify the voices of women in the scene, offering a safe and supportive space for creative expression and challenging stereotypes in the industry.
